Greta Garbo meets MGM’s Leo the Lion. Let’s just say it was a quiet trip home.

Here’s Greta Garbo, just 19 years old and fresh off the boat from Sweden after being discovered by my great uncle Louis B. Mayer, and signing a lucrative contract with the mighty Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Naturally, a huge publicity blitz ensued and one of her first stops was to the ‘Lion farm’ where MGM’s mascot, Leo the Lion lived.

Greta’s body language pretty much tells the story of that day… From ‘Oh, so cute…’ to ‘Get me out of here!

Thankfully, Greta didn’t flee back to Europe, and the rest, as they say, is history and what celluloid dreams are made of
